Over the past weekend, HSFL launched its first fundraiser for the people of Ukraine, marking a significant milestone for our team. The disaster in Ukraine has been nothing short of a horrifying chain of events and it has left us determined to make a difference. Since the invasion from Russia on February 24th, the nation has been plagued by an unceasing barrage of bombs and shelling. Witnessing this ongoing tragedy, our hearts ache with empathy for the countless individuals who have continually endured the current calamity in what has become a humanitarian disaster.
As students who continually strive to help communities in need, HSFL has launched a new initiative to support the people of Ukraine. Our incredible group of high school students has united a community to donate to the Wonder Foundation.
We believe these two organizations have the ability to have a positive impact on those suffering.
We chose to donate to the WONDER Foundation. Since 2018, the WONDER Foundation has been collaborating with locally-led Polish organizations to provide assistance and support to Ukrainian migrant women in Poland. Through the FATIMA Project, the foundation aims to empower and uplift these women, helping them overcome challenges and create better lives for themselves.
In solidarity with Ukraine, we also created special heart pillows that pay homage to its people. These symbolic pillows feature the vibrant colors of the Ukrainian flag, with one side adorned in striking yellow and the other in blue. Typically heart pillows are donated to various medical centers and are given to cardiac patients to support them during their surgery and recovery. However, for this special occasion, we thought these pillows would show our support in a unique way.

I would like to thank the amazing parents and volunteers who dedicated so much of their time to the project. Doing fundraisers such as these takes an immense amount of time and organization, and given extremely short notice of the project — I would again like to highlight our volunteers who supported us throughout the process.
In the face of this immense humanitarian crisis, our organization decided to run four fundraisers in various locations to increase our support for the community.
In total, our team raised $3428. While our initial goal was to donate $1000 in total, we were shocked to have raised this amount in such a short amount of time. Our first fundraiser was able to raise $1412, and we are so grateful to the community who lent their support to the cause.
In the future, we hope to continue to support those in need through various fundraisers such as these. For those interested in donating, please Paypal us to highschoolersforfrontliners@
