Hi everyone, Today we held a zoom meeting going over some new updates. Thank you to everyone who attended, and here’s a recap if you missed it.
- We hit 15k masks donated! Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to the process! HSFL is now starting to reach out globally: we’re going to be sending masks to orphanages in Ethiopia!
- To thank us for our hard work, Anne Arundel County Detention Center has given each one of us an Executive Citation Award. Please come to pick yours up when you drop off your supplies! As for the people who go to Church, we will drop it off at the Church rather than having you come to us.
- On December 28th, 2020, we sent our first batch of 500 masks to the Hope for Children Fund: Ethiopia.
- The Veterans Affairs Medical Center has asked if we would be willing to shift towards making walker bags and lab ropes: they’re a big organization with many people donating masks towards them, so that’s why they asked us to shift to something new. We’re still figuring into the exact details of how the materials can get to us and more, but let us know if you want to participate in this!
- HSFL is going to start a memorial website for those who have passed away from COVID. The projected number of deaths is high, and we thought people may want a place to share their thoughts and stories. This website is to share a moment in history with each other.
- We are working with the developers’ team right now to create the site and input lots of features.
- Let us know if you are interested in logistical support, which would be vetting all messages before they are posted. It would only require reading the messages to make sure that there aren’t random spam messages being put up. We know that it can be very difficult reading these kinds of stories, so please don’t push yourself.
- We will be launching a Kickstarter by the end of this month to keep the site up: the goal will be $5000 to cover the costs of bandwidth needed.
- You will be able to get SSL hours for this; the specifics have yet to be determined.
- We’re sorry that our zoom meetings have been a bit sporadic, but we’re fixing that now. We will be holding Zoom meetings every two weeks on Mondays from 3:00 – 3:10 or 3:20 as a sort of Q and A session for members/parents or as an updating session.
- Our next meeting will be on the 8th of February. We hope to see you there!

- As for drop-offs for the past month, here’s an overview!
- 500 to the Hope for Children Fund: Ethiopia (as stated above)
- 265 to the Anne Arundel Detention Center
- 345 to the Montgomery County Detention Center
This is the end of the recap! It’s a long message, but we had a lot of news to share with you all! If you have any questions, please reach out! And as always, our sincerest thanks to each and every one of you for deciding to be proactive and helping our community out!
