On May 31, the HSFL team took part in the City of Gaithersburg’s community event, “Shake It Off,” held at the Concert Pavilion. Our volunteers helped run several activity stations while also hosting a booth to introduce HSFL’s mission to local residents.

For two lively hours, families, children, and community members of all ages enjoyed music, dancing, and a festive atmosphere. It was a wonderful opportunity not only to support a meaningful city event, but also to strengthen our connection with the community we serve.

Being present in our local community—sharing what we do, meeting new families, and inspiring more volunteers to join our mission—reminded us how much greater our impact can be when we work together. The upbeat music playing throughout the evening seemed to carry our hopes forward, making the experience even more joyful for our team.

We are deeply grateful to the City of Gaithersburg for inviting us. HSFL looks forward to continuing this partnership and hopes to participate again—whether as volunteers, collaborators, or both—in future city events.
