We currently donate to the Doctor’s Community Hospital in PG County, the Veterans Affairs Center in Baltimore, the Howard University Hospital in DC, The Children’s Home in Catonsville, the Anne Arundel Detention Center, Montgomery County Detention Center, and the New Bright Community Development Center in Addis, Abba Ethiopia.

Despite more availability to N-95 masks, our services are integral to the community. Cotton masks are necessary for those who have skin allergies and are sensitive to factory made masks, senior citizens, and smaller community centers or detention centers in the US and across the world who still do not have reliable access to protective gear. Our services are tailored to these individuals and groups.

In addition, many hospitals and community centers still request our cotton masks to wear over their surgical masks or give them to patients.

Yes, absolutely! We have additional opportunities for volunteers to cut fabric, cut elastic, call facilities, drive to locations, and students helping with additional logistics. If you would like to learn how to sew, we also have student instructors who can guide you through the process through online classes.

Of course! We need as many volunteers as we can get. Strength always lies in numbers. In fact, we have several adult sewers who help our team already.

No. All materials are provided by HSFL, but volunteers are more than welcome to purchase their own materials.

No. All services provided by HSFL are on a voluntary basis by students.

We use the funds to buy fabric, elastic, and sewing machines for our masks. We typically use anywhere from $300 to $1000 restocking on fabric per month.

We typically purchase fabric from Joann Crafts store, Walmart, eBay, Dollar Tree, and other online stores. We try to optimize our expenses by buying the cheapest but best quality material. The Veterans Affairs Center provided us with their own fabric and elastic to use.

Yes! We provide service hours for Montgomery County Public School students and Howard County Public School students.
