Wow! I was excited when I got a text message from Austin Moon from High Schoolers for Frontliners saying that we currently have 32 blankets and 400 heart pillows ready for delivery.
I have been working as a Catholic chaplain for 20 years. When my patients felt alone and sad, I shared the heart pillow. They held the little heart and felt loved and cared for by someone like you. One day I shared a yellow heart with my cancer patient as an Easter gift. The patient said he would bring this home, put it in his bed. When I shared the blanket with my patient who felt cold, I put it on the chest, my patient felt warm and smiled. Sometimes I put the blanket on the elderly patient who was sitting in a wheelchair. She felt warm and gave me a hug. Of course, I was happy and felt loved.Dear friends at HSFL,I do appreciate what you are doing. You are on a mission to share love with the sick. Thank you, thank you for your wonderful work! May the Lord bless you and your study! I can not see you individually but I want to tell you how much I love you.Love and prayers,Sr. Daria Moon, SPC (Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres)
It is because of heartfelt messages like these that we continue to be motivated in our mission. The connection between HSFL and MedStar Washington Hospital Center, particularly through individuals like Sister Daria, is a testament to the power of community, compassion, and dedication to service. Together, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.
