Hello everyone, yesterday we held a zoom meeting going over some new updates. Thank you to everyone who attended, and here’s a recap if you missed it!
- We held our 20K celebration party a few weeks ago, and it was a success! Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by, we hoped you all had fun! We took some candid photos at the party, and if you like to purchase an HSFL T-shirt to support us, please let us know!
- Recently, we hit one year since we started High Schoolers for Front Liners. Thank you to each and every one of you for supporting HSFL continue donating masks from the DC area to Ethiopia! Not to mention, the two successful Kickstarter campaigns that we ran this past year.
- A huge announcement is that HSFL was able to help the VA Center in Baltimore win the American Spirit Award for Excellence by the Department of Veterans Affairs due to our huge contributions to the Maryland Health Care System Handmade Mask for Heroes Program.
- Thank you to all of you for supporting us and helping HSFL gain this recognition!
- If you would like to read more about this, here’s an article about the award and an interview with Allison Moon, HSFL’s founder and president.
- Another big announcement is the start of our partnership with the cancer nonprofit Kits to Heart! They donate curated cancer care kits to patients and caregivers nationwide and include items such as masks, pillows, hand sanitizers, letters, and etc.
- We will be donating anywhere from 50 to possibly even more hospital masks a month. If you would like to go with them on their deliveries to hospitals around Maryland, just email us and we’ll set up all the details!
- A couple of friendly reminders
- Please do not waste any materials! We are a nonprofit organization and giving out materials for free has to come from somewhere. If you have any leftover fabric or elastic, please bring them back when you drop off your completed items, do not throw them away. For cutting fabric, be sure to make each cut as close to the other as possible! For cutting elastic, mark your elastics precisely, please!
- The deadline for materials is at the end of every month. We need the materials back to send to hospitals and detention centers, as well as to send to other volunteers!
- Updates on Mask Donations:
- On June 4th, 2021, we donated 205 masks to the Doctors Community Hospital and 200 masks to the Howard University Hospital.
As always, we appreciate your dedication and time in making HSFL as strong as it is. We hope you stick with us until the end!
