Hello everyone, today we held a zoom meeting going over some new updates. Thank you to everyone who attended, and here’s a recap if you missed it.

  • Previously, we had mentioned that we’ll be holding a party to celebrate donating 20K masks. The finalized date is June 19th, with the specific time of day to be determined. Mark your calendars, and we’ll hope to see you there!
    • We’ll commemorate this huge milestone by eating hot dogs, hamburgers, and cookies! There’ll also be HSFL t-shirts for sale, if you would like to purchase one to support our organization.
    • We’ll take some group pictures to remember this party, and you’ll be able to see these pictures on our website!
  • Another huge announcement is that we are officially a 501(3)(c) organization! That means that we can give out SSL hours to those who’ve earned it, without having to go through a teacher. Congrats to us 🙂
  • A new program has been launched at HSFL! The Veterans Affair Center has asked for HSFL to write letters to veterans. You can drop off these letters along with your other material drop-offs at Allison’s house.
    • For every 4 letters written, you will earn 1/2 hour, or 30 minutes, of SSL hours
  •  We will be holding a California Tortilla Kitchen Fundraiser! A huge shoutout to Chloe R. for setting up this fundraiser for us, thank you for all the hard work you put into making this happen. Please consider ordering online on June 2nd from 11AM – 8:30PM. Attached are directions on how to order online.
    • 25% of proceeds will be donated to us, so if you want to help us spread the word, there’s a flyer down below to send to your friends + family!
  • Cartoon shoutout time! Thank you so much Andrea for creating this amazing cartoon on how to make Detention Center Masks!

  • Lastly, here’s an update on our monthly mask donations!
    • On April 29th, we donated 287 masks to the Montgomery County Detention Center, 300 masks to the Anne Arundel Detention Center, 250 masks to the Howard University Hospital, and 250 masks to the Doctors Community Hospital.
That’s it for the recap! See you all at our next meeting on Monday June 7th from 3 to 3:20pm!
